Boot Dusseldorf 2017: The World’s Biggest Maritime Trade Fair Returns

Attend Boot Dusseldorf in January 2017. It’s the biggest and best maritime trade fair in the world with a huge selection of yachts and interactive events.

As another year comes to a close, the yachting fraternity has a magnificent event to look forward to at the start of 2017. Boot Düsseldorf takes place from 21st to 29th January and brings some energy to Germany’s grey and cloudy winter. The Düsseldorf Boat Show is the world’s biggest boat and watersports trade fair with around 1,800 exhibitors from over 50 countries, making it an unparalleled indoor event in size and scope.

Düsseldorf has a long history of trade fairs and the boat show continues this at Messe, a huge exhibition site ideally located near the international airport. The arena’s 17 halls are filled with 20 themed worlds full of fantastic nautical products, experiences and displays. Visitors can also attend high-calibre presentations by some of the most respected names in the business, as well as entertaining demonstrations that appeal to all ages. The sheer size of boot Düsseldorf can be slightly overwhelming but there are maps and a smartphone app that can help you find your way.

The week-long event has garnered a steady contingent of fans since it was launched in 1969 and continues to attract around a quarter of a million visitors annually. They come to see a selection of yachts, sailing equipment, water toys and all things maritime-related. Hall 6 is a huge draw to yacht enthusiasts since it’s an important platform for superyachts, unrivalled in its indoor capacity to showcase superyachts in their entirety. The hall is already fully booked with exhibits from prestigious shipyards like Azimut/Ferretti, Sunseeker and Princess. A total of 60 yachts will be showcased in Hall 6 with many top brands on the world market presenting their flagship yachts.

Hall 7 will also be dedicated to yachts, displaying exclusive yacht-building projects, scale models of luxury yachts and yacht co-ownership agencies. Fractional yacht ownership is becoming an increasingly popular way for people to attain the luxury lifestyle of yachting without the excessive purchasing and maintenance costs. There will be plenty of experts on hand to advise visitors of the options available for those interested in chartering or buying a yacht, special equipment or any other maritime services.

The Düsseldorf Boat Show also showcases sports vessels like canoes, kayaks, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and jet skis. In fact, it exhibits just about every kind of sports and fishing vessel there is, including the relevant kit, equipment and accessories. Representatives from related agencies, organisations and services give high-level advice and tempt people into new hobbies. Aside from showcasing the latest innovations and developments in the sailing world, travel agencies will also be present at the show and offering countless holiday ideas for 2017. This might be a good place to get inspired to take a yacht charter or find out more about yacht co-ownership.

Participants at Boot Düsseldorf can inspect, examine and experience the new boats, diving equipment and water sports gear that takes their interest, making the experience truly interactive. Around 350 manufacturers of sailboats, yachts, multi-hulled boats and RIBS, will present their vessels and some of the smallest can be tested in the sailing halls. Beginners can take a ride on dinghies in the water tanks with the right amount of wind produced by machines and expert sailing instructors on hand to offer advice. The truly interactive experiences on offer are what makes Boot Düsseldorf stand out from other boat shows. It also means that the show has established itself as an enjoyable day out for all the family, not just industry insiders.

Opening times will be from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm daily. Entrance passes can be ordered online in advance at and all tickets allow free use of all public transportation within the VRR transportation network of Düssseldorf.
